Healthy Summer Fast Food
By Karen Masterson
May 25, 2012The New England growing season really kicks into high gear by mid-summer and it's a wonderful time to stop by a farmer's market and see what is available. With the growing interest in local food there is not only an increasing variety of produce but also more markets to shop at, which makes eating locally that much easier. Try a new green, experiment with an unfamiliar vegetable; the summer season makes for an exciting time in the kitchen!

Nourish Lexington in the Boston GlobeWednesday, 9/2/09
On September 2, Globe critic Sheryl Julian wrote up Nourish Lexington in a review titled "Whole Concept Goes Awry." Contrary to the review's title, Sheryl had a lot of positive things to say about her experience at Nourish:
This is an especially good time to open a place that’s price- and quality-conscious, a spot in a town full of baby strollers and families happy with healthy meals and vegetarian entrees. Items are reasonably priced (a River Rock burger is $10.50), and there are lots of familiar dishes, such as jumbo wings (8 for $8.59), stir-fry of seasonal vegetables with organic brown rice ($10.25), and chicken Caesar salad ($9.95).

Nourish Lexington in ChowhoundMonday, 7/27/09
Nourish was recently reviewed in the local Chowhound Blog. A snippet from the review:
The food will be familiar to whose who know Big Fresh and Tennessee's BBQ in Framingham, since Nourish is the new joint project of the husband and wife team behind those restaurants. The fresh locally sourced very vegie friendly focus of Big Fresh is enhanced with selected BBQ elements from Tennessee's which makes a wide ranging menu that can satisfy parties with widely divergent tastes and dietary preferences. But the presentation here has a bit more style and finish to match the sit down context. They also serve a broader selection of beer and wine along with a full bar. And the prices are quite reasonable.

WickedLocal Lexington announces Nourish Restaurant's openingThursday, 6/11/09
The blog WickedLocal.com recently announced our grand opening. A quote from the article:
Karen Masterson said the restaurant’s menu will include a ground beef burger from River Rock Farm in Brimfield; anumber of different salad options, including lettuce from Blue Heron Organic Farm in Lincoln and Tangerini’s Spring Street Farm in Millis; some of the falafel wraps served at the Big Fresh Café in Framingham — which is owned by Nourish— along with a Big Fresh Café specialty dish of tofu in a sauté sauce with teriyaki vegetables, brown rice and collard greens.
Other restaurant menu items — including ribs and chicken wings — will come from Tennessee BBQ, another Framingham restaurant owned by Nourish Inc.
Karen Masterson said the majority of lunch items would be between $8-11, while dinner prices will be in the $12-16 range.
“We’re looking to be, price-wise, a similar restaurant to what Not Your Average Joe’s was,” she said. “It’s an eclectic menu because we really want to offer some things people in the community will enjoy.”
